The problem I had with it was that it was turning anything in the wp/uploads/ directory into an image for the gallery; even shitty little inline thumbnails -- so I've deactivated it for now. It's kind of gritty. Have a look at it and see if it's sufficient. I can always add a G2 gallery (look at my website for an example), but the theming of it is a fiddly-ass nightmare.
